Every morning we get fresh ingredients delivered and our chefs use those to decide which dishes will made for that day. We work with a number of suppliers local to Broughty Ferry where we source our fruits, vegetables, meats and fish. Our authentic Spanish ingredients we source from Stirling based Iberico Foods.
Iberico Foods are passionate about Spanish food and source authentic, quality products directly from family owned artisan producers throughout Spain. Our fruits and vegetables come from Les Turriffs, our meats from Yorkes of Dundee and our fish from Campbell Brothers. Our menu has been carefully crafted over the years and we’re proud to serve freshly made dishes on a daily basis giving our customers a true taste of Spain. Lovely evening, warm welcome, attentive staff, we chose the set menu, and all the dishes were beautifully presented and super tasty. There was plenty food and catering for a gluten free guest was no problem. A great restaurant with lovely decor, and the sangria was divine😁read moreread lessGill M13/01/26
Visited on Hogmanay with husband and son. We chose from the à la carte menu and weren’t disappointed! We ordered 3 dishes each to share, as recommended by the lovely waitress, and the food was both plentiful and delicious. Although the staff were very busy we didn’t have long to wait for our food to arrive. Very reasonably priced and a lovely touch was a complimentary glass of fizz at the end & an invite to join the New Year Party in the bar below. Would definitely recommend and will return soon. Thank you Kelly, Paul & staff for a fabulous evening.read moreread lessDiscover3102603189512/01/26
Met friends here for a catch up and we weren’t disappointed. Great atmosphere and lovely layout. Staff were very friendly, cheerful and helpful. Service was great. And the food was amazing and looked amazing. There were 4 of us and we chose 3 tapas each and shared. Which was a perfect amount. It was that good, we’ve booked again for next month. Highly recommend. Great location. Lots of pubs nearby if you want to carry in the night. Or if you’re being sensible, you could have a lovely walk along the beach/promenade to walk off your meal.read moreread lessMeander1273146556703/03/26
We visited Sol y Sombra again recently, and just like our first time, it absolutely didn’t disappoint. There were three of us, and we went for two of the set menus plus an extra tapas dish to share. Even though it was a Tuesday lunchtime, the restaurant was buzzing — clearly a sign that people know a good thing when they find it.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented, full of flavor and variety. You can really tell how much care goes into each dish. Big kudos to chef Ethan for this fantastic meal (served in person btw. as the place was very busy!).
The staff were just as lovely as we remembered — warm, chatty, and genuinely welcoming. Special mention to the waiter/bartender whose name we forgot to ask for next time we’ll make sure to get it, because he really added to the experience.
Overall, another wonderful visit to this gem of a tapas bar. We’ll definitely be back.read moreread lessKaM0n25/01/26
Returning to Sol Y Sombra a few weeks since last visit and lovely new decor in upstairs area is amazing.
A very busy night as we arrived early evening. Highly efficient service from two brilliant waitresses. We ordered 6 tapas dishes and a bread/olives platter. More than enough food for the two of us. Really enjoyed the Pescadero Point Rose wine. Such a busy place with a vibrant atmosphere. Will return again.read moreread lessSteve M15/02/26
We have been going to Soly on and off since it first opened. We loved it back in the old days.
Our most recent visits have been really good! Slight tweaks to the original menu, the new owners have added their own twist and improved on some of the original dishes and also added their own which are lovely! The scallops are amazing and and manchego cheese cake!! Yum
We had a cheeky weeknight visit and did the new picar menu as we wanted to try lots of things! We were very well looked after and in certainly am enjoying it much more now!
For a while I was really struggling with the same dishes and it seemed to be getting more bread and less food! Being gluten intolerant, it’s a struggle many places. So the new dishes are very welcome! Definitely recommend!read moreread lesshollygirl1712/01/26
Friends and I had a last minute change of plans for a Christmas night out, and Sol Y Sombra went out of their way to accommodate us. We initially were just going for drinks, but ended up ordering food as well and it was out of this world! Staff were friendly and helpful, the sangria was delicious and the atmosphere brilliant. Some of our party had never visited before and can’t wait to come back! Thank you again!read moreread lessSarah S12/01/26
Pre Xmas visit as a walk in as had been let down elsewhere. Busy on the night and sat upstairs. First visit in a few months and as a previous regular visitor noticed a few decor improvements. Opted for hot tapas only with wine and a couple of cocktails. Stand out dishes were the patatas bravas, prawns and meatballs although all the dishes were tasty and plenty food for us. Staff were attentive and really like the very informative descriptions of the dishes when served. There was a nice vibe with the background music and how busy it was. Will definitely be back, read moreread lessSteve M12/01/26
