Delicious! Will be back Came in for a lovely Mother’s Day lunch with my mum and granny. Staff were lovely and seated us straight away. Drinks were quick to be ordered and arrived, we opted to go for the full tapas and it did not disappoint! Cold tapas were delicious, hot tapas arrived around 20 minutes later, which again, were delicious! Staff talked us through all the dishes, checked on us regularly and even wrapped up a wee doggy bag for my granny. Will absolutely be back - thanks again to all the staff, both out front and in the kitchen for making our Mother’s Day treat so special!

Birthday Tapas - a real treat! The perfect night out to celebrate my partner's birthday! We went for the Chef's Selection which provides some lovely surprise dishes - a mix of starters and mains tapas. My personal highlights was the halloumi kebab, patatas bravas, padron peppers, aioli and all of the little salad dishes we started off with. Partner loved all of the meat dishes and basically everything else! We also had a jug of the red wine sangria, which was delicious and two Mojhitos which were very well made and packed with flavour, lots of mint and ice. Huge shout-out to the two staff who were perfect hosts, super pleasant and attentive, created a lovely relaxing vibe for us. A bustling wee night at Sol Y Sombre - thanks again.

Continues to be the best tapas Exceptional food and service. A group of us had a great meal and probably too much food but the dishes that were brought out were delicious and very good value The acoustics aren’t easy for a number of us who have heating problems but unfortunately 4 men who apparently had been golfing all day arrived very drunk , continued to drink and were quite obnoxious. One even put his leg up on the table. We appreciate how difficult these situations are for the very young staff to deal with but they were quite offensive. I hope they all have a hangover from H this morning. They fortunately didn’t stay that long but being literally right beside certainly made us plan to leave earlier than anticipated.

Better than ever We went as a group of 3, one veggie, one unable to eat gluten and one “normal” We ordered full tapas which is a selection of hot and cold dishes with bread, olives and oils. We also had a jug of white sangria and 3 passion fruit martinis. The food was plentiful, served at a decent time and with no long waits. Each dish was explained to us and the team couldn’t have done enough to help. She was bright and chipper. We had a lovely evening and would go back, I think the new pick and mix selections would be great for lunch or midweek. The places was busy and the owner was chatting to tables. Overall a lovely family business who’s is offering a really special experience. We will be back

Fantastic food and service! Fabulous lunch with our visiting American friends! Service was impressive! Just the right amount of attention from very personable young man. Food was outstanding! Favourite dishes were chicken salad, albondigas and chicken and chorizo skewers.

Repeat customers We eat here regularly and love visiting. The food is always delicious and the staff are always very welcoming and great at explaining the choices and each dish when they arrive. One of our favourite places to eat, infact we have to limit ourselves so as not to seem too needy 😅 we are lucky to live so close to such a cool place!

Lovely catch up lunch Lovely lunch with our friends. So much choice and what we ate was fresh and tasty. Very mindful of our friend’s allergies. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, nothing was too much bother.

Favourite Restaurant in the Ferry Another wonderful night at Sol y Sombra, to celebrate my husbands promotion. The food was as amazing as it always is, staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive, and the restaurant as a whole is our favourite in Broughty Ferry. We consider ourselves lucky having this lovely restaurant so close to us.

Fabulous meal I must admit that after seeing the owners Facebook post and then reading the Trip Advisor reviews from last week, I was considering cancelling our booking. After being a regular before the new owners took over, this was always my favourite restaurant. I am delighted to say that I’m glad we didn’t cancel. Firstly I love the new decor upstairs, it’s really classy and warm. The welcome we got was friendly and the service was good too. We went for the cold and hot Tapas and we were not disappointed. The selection was really tasty and varied. My only gripe was I felt a little bowl of salad is not a tapas but other than that, it was great. When the hot food started coming out, we could not believe how many prawns we got. The chicken skewers were tasty and we got a bowl of patatas bravas each and a selection of other hot dishes. We could not finish it all so portion wise, we had more than enough. The only thing I wish we had done differently was order a bottle of wine but instead we opted for 2 glasses of Tempranillo and it just didn’t taste like Tempranillo so not sure if the wine by the glass is different? Anyway, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and glad we went, we will be back.

Fabulous ❤️ Never disappoints - incredible food, incredible service and can tell how much the owners really care for the place. Keeping a fantastic balance of what’s always been and also some new dishes/touches. Will definitely be back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends/family.

Friday lunch visit We came in on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Lewis greeted us and sat us at our table. We had the set lunch menu which was great value for money. Food was served in good time and was really tasty. Lewis also took a moment to chat to us. Will definitely be back again soon.

A Spanish delight in Broughty Ferry A wonderful cosy Spanish restaurant in the heart of Broughty Ferry. The restaurant exceeded our expectations and was accurate to recent reviews. The set dinner menu hot tapas was beautifully curated, perfectly flavoured and portions were plentiful. Different each day we understand but we had dishes with Cod, Pork Belly, Prawns, greens, potato Bravas. The red sangria was fruity and fresh. The service by the three young men and a young lady was attentive, helpful and friendly. Given it was the owners birthday on the day we visited we were given lots of extra treats, totally unexpected and extremely generous. A restaurant not to be missed. A great night out with my parents on a short weekend break away in a beautiful part of Scotland.

BEST TAPAS IN YEARS! Had never been to the restaurant before, but came across it while wandering round Broughty Ferry looking for a place for lunch. As tapas lovers, we thought we’d give it a go. We were welcomed by Lewis who was very personable and attentive. He explained the menu options to us and really looked after us from start to finish. When the food came, we thought we’d ordered too much, but it was just so good that we just loosened the belts and got stuck in! Without a doubt sone of the best tapas we’d had in years. Can’t wait to go back next time we’re in town. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
